The Mirador del Rio and Famara Cliffs are not only breathtaking natural viewponts but also home to the islands birds of prey. This part of the island is ideal for spotting Kestrel, the elusive Barbary Falcon, and scavengers like the Egyptian Vulture as there is a high concentration this habitat of rocky and volcanic landscapes The Barbury Falcon also known as the Tagarote Falcon breeds on the sea cliffs and is a fast hunter. They are often sighted near the top of the Famara cliffs.The common Raven can be found at the top near Las Nieves and El Bosquesito and the Common Kestrel are often seen hunting for lizards or insects along the cliffs and in the sandy El Jable area. The Risco de Famara: The 671-meter high cliff (Peñas del Chache) is ideal for spotting cliff-nesting raptors like the Falcon and Kestrel. Mirador de Guinate: Located near the cliffs, it is a good spot for observing vultures and falcons in flight.
