The road back to normality during these difficult times has been cautious and slow. Just the simple things give you hope that the end is in sight and one of those things that we take for granted in Lanzarote are the camel rides that have been offered to visitors since tourism began on the island. Weve missed seeing the camels on their daily walk to and from the National Park of Timanfaya which was one of the many activities suspended during the lockdown. The good news is that on July 1, the camel shepherds from the town of Uga will resume their tourist activity of walking visitors up and down the mountainside. Of course like everything else there will be special sanitary measures in place. The suspension has caused strong economic consequences that have affected fifty families whose livelyhoods depend on the tourist trips in Timanfaya. The mayor of Yaiza stressed that he wanted the this sector to recover as soon as possible.
