The beaches of Papagayo maybe deserted at the moment but there will come a time when the beaches are full again. Having said that these beaches would be a good place to social distance as they are off the beaten track and not easy to get too. These are amongst some of the best beaches in Europe with 5 white sandy bays and crystal clear waters overlooking the neighboring island of Fuerteventura. The history of the area dates back to 1402 and a settlement which was built by Jean de Bethencourt who was leading expedition. There is no evidence today of this settlement apart from some large wells which can be found to the rear of one of the beaches called Playa de los Pozos. If you want to be close to the Papagayo beaches we have some beautiful villas in Playa Blanca to consider for a self catering holiday in Lanzarote
