Saturday, November 23rd, starting at 8:00 p.m in the Green Caves “Cuevas de los Verdes” the American saxophonist Abdu Salim who founded the first jazz school in 1983 in Seville, Andalusia will be in concert for the 3rd festival of music in this unique venue. He is considered one of the great pioneers of jazz in Spain and his son who is a pianist (Daahoud Salim) will accompany him with the Daahoud Salim Quintet. The quintet is made up of musiciands from Holland, Spain, Germany and South Korea. In 2016 they released two albums, “The Call” (with the Blue Asteroid Records label), and a second live, with the Errabal Jazz label. In 2017 the Quintet won the B-Jazz International Contest, in Belgium, receiving the “Grand Prix Albert Michiels Prize” for the best group, and the “Sabam for Culture Prize”. The jury of Jazzaldia 2016 unanimously granted them the “Best Band Award” and the “Best Soloist Award” (Daahoud Salim) at the Getxo Jazz Festival. They were also awarded by the “Cifu” Award, from the public, to the best group and best soloist.
