This next weekend the Foundation of Cesar Manrique have decided that there will be no events linked to the centenary of the birth of César Manrique. Celebrations have been planned throughout the year to mark the 100 birthday of the famous artist who dedicated so much to the island and is responsible for many of the cosmetic laws regarding architecture and the safe guarding of the natural environment that we see today. The reason that the celebrations are suspended is to coincide with the demonstrations and protests  in different parts of the planet regarding global warming and a general global strike which is planned for this Friday. The strike will include the closure of the Cesar Manrique museums to contribute to the awareness and dissemination of this climate emergency situation that needs immediate and forceful responses from governments and international institutions.
