A sad story of a poor dolphin which was rescued last Thursday off the coast of Lanzarote in Caleta de Caballo. The animal was rescued and transferred to the Costa Teguise aquarium, but was eventually sacrificed due to its poor condition.
It was bathers who alerted the authorities when they saw the dolphin struggling. It was a female of approximately 1.70 meters. After getting the dolphin out of the water in a rocky area where it was spotted it was found to be in a very bad condition and the hard decision was made to to practice euthanasia. This week there have been two more stranded cetaceans, a young calderón calf in Las Caletas and a bottlenose dolphin in the Las Maretas area of Playa Blanca.
