In the early hours of the morning last Friday at 01.47 an earthquake of a magnitude of 2.7 has been recorded near the coast of Lanzarote. Usually, only seismic movements that exceed magnitude 3 are usually noticed by the population. Sometimes small tremors can be felt between the magnitudes of 2 and 3 but this normally happens when the epicenter is close. In this case, the National Geographic Institute detected the earthquake west of Lanzarote about 30 kilometers deep in The Atlantic ocean. Tremors in the Canary islands are constantly being monitored and you can keep up with the activity by taking a look at the Volcano Discovery Website which can also be downloaded on Android and the IOS APP store
