40 members of the consortium for security, emergency and fire prevention of Lanzarote island council met on Saturday in Playa Blanca to be trained in the use of drones for sea rescue. The participants received theoretical and practical training and simulations that showed that the drones can arrive before a watercraft in any zone where an emergency is taking place. This will be an advantage adding to a higher success rate in rescue operations.
The drone’s operational capabilities were shown in surveillance tasks and in prevention and action. The theory behind this new development was given which included technical characteristics for its implementation and the autonomy, resistance to wind and corrosive environments, speed and recharging for re use. The legal aspects and requirements to be able to use them were also talked about. Demonstrations were given on the beach for the locals also.
