At the point of Aguila in Playa Blanca you will find the small castle of Los Coloradas. It was built between 1741 and 1744 by the commander D. Antonio Benito Pignatelli. Situated on the sea front its purpose was to warn against pirate attacks mainly from Africa and Europe. The locals were warned by the ringing of the bell at the top of the castle. They would then all make they way to the castle and the drawbridge was raised to protect them from any intruders. The views from the castle are panoramic spanning the island of Los Lobos and the coast of Lanzarote.
