Constitution Day is a national holiday. It is celebrated on December 6 and is regulated by Royal Decree 2964/1983, of November 30.1 It commemorates the holding of the 1978 referendum in which the Spanish people approved, by a large majority, the current Constitution, being published in the Official State Gazette on December 29 of the same year, entering into force on the same day of its publication. On December 6, the State Administration, the Armed Forces and educational centers held various commemorative events.
