The wine growing region of La Geria is scattered with black picon and fertile soil which is great for growing the vines. This area was created by a volcano called El Cuervo. It has now become one of the islands many beauty spots and has is also an important monument which forms part of the history of Lanzarote.
This volcano is within easy walking distance from the roadside and very populat with trekking fanatics. If you decide to visit the volcano be sure to stick to the paths. This area is of significant importance and there are areas that are prohibited to walk on
