Interesting news that a rare substance called tellurium has been found 300 miles off the coast of the Canary Islands. Tellurium is contained in rock and the discovery is that the concentrations are 50,0000 times higher than the deposits found on land. The substance is used for the conservation of energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines which means that for the future depends on the rocks being mined. Research is taking place to see if it is possible to mine these rocks deep under the ocean by using robotic submarines. Obviously everything comes at a price and the possibility of disturbing wildlife and interupting the food chain looks quick high.
