We take it for granted that the beach is there and tend to think that it always will be. Apart from the obvious care to make sure we keep them clean, there is another threat which is the sea and the weather. The Tias council that looks after the beaches of Puerto del Carmen are taking acion to replace the sand that has been taken away over the winter months by the sea and strong currents.
The intention is that after the winter and once you pass the bad weather, “the beaches of Puerto del Carmen will again look their best image to the summer, when the increase in the number of visitors and bathers are expected”.
Its no easy task and with every work that takes place its not without its red tape and permission has to be sought. Not only will the sand be replaced, the beaches will be cleaned and safety checked.
