Looking up at the mountains on the outskirts of Mala you will sea a large wall which is a Dam. Its hard to believe on this dry island that the wall is holding back gallons of water. Virtually impossible to reach by car, however it does make a nice walk with a reward at the top. There are some stunning views and if you make the walk after a downpour of rain you feel as id you are on a completely different island. Plants of all colours seem to spring from nowhere.
The water is stored for agriculture and the idea came about in 1958 but never really got off the ground, The Dam was actually completed some 20 years later in 1979 but from all of the planned uses for it, it really has not served the island in any way apart from being a scenic viewpoint
