50 years of tourism in lanzarote
This October 12, 2016 marks a half-century of the opening of Lanzarote as a tourist destination. In a small fishing village called the tiñosa opened on 12 October 1966, the first tourist hotel in Lanzarote. Existed at that time in parador of tourism and the small hotel zonzamas, in the capital of the island. With the investment of Vicente Calderón and Virgil Suárez would be launched in 1966 the first resort in Lanzarote called Playa Blanca, designed by the famous architect Fernando Fig trees, in which it would be renamed as Puerto Del Carmen. That same year, 1966, I would go back to the island césar manrique to open the jameos del agua and launch the network of centres of art, culture and tourism of Lanzarote. In 1968, in October, it would be opened the monument to the peasant, artistic work of césar manrique and Jesus Soto.
