Spanish culture is known for the odd fiesta or 2 or 3 or 4. Today marks the start of the fiesta of San Gines in Arrecife, a sure sign that summer is under way. The evidence is the fun fair set up close to the town hall. This event usually is packed with locals taking a stroll in the evening and of course the night entertainment, music and side bars. Two weeks of events, sporting, competitions and concerts starts today and ends with a concert, normaly by a well known spanish artist and a big firework display on the beach in 2 weeks time

Named after Arrecifes Church and patron saint of course this is a religious festival although you wont see much evidence.
