Did you know that Lanzarote is the island in Spain that has the most tourists per square kilometer? A study was conducted using data from the European Commission and Lanzarote came out on top for having the most tourists in comparisson to space although its important to remember that the tourism on the island and other Canary islands is spread throughout the year and is not just during the summer spell. The study also reveals that Lanzarote is the second-largest island in Europe, surpassed only by Malta, where 38,777 overnight stays per square kilometer were recorded.Although Mallorca is the European island that receives the most tourists in absolute numbers, being larger than many others, it occupies eighth place in this ranking with 14,064 overnight stays per square kilometer.
