A total of 2.4 million tourists went hiking in the Canary Islands in 2022. A breakdown of the nationalities predominatley taking part in this activity is made up of visitors from mainland Spain (17.5%) and Germany (17%).
The public company Turismo de Canarias, dependent on the regional government, has launched a campaign on social networks to attract tourists who go hiking in the Archipelago. It was reported that last year, 2.4 million visitors carried out this activity on the islands, making it the sixth most important  passtime. It is made up from tourists that choose to investigate nature with an interest in discovering the authenticity of the destination,away from the busiest routes.
