Thanks to a prototype of geothermal energy facilities, as from May 2023 Timanfaya National Park will be able to power itself.
Located on the Islote de Hilario within the park, the installation will be able to supply up to 12kWh of renewable energy every day>
The project heralds from the Ecological Transition department of the Canarian Government in collobaration with the Public University of Navarra.
The technology does not use steam turbines as with most geothermal systems and is totally respectful of the environment.
