Today is the first day since the 21st May 2020 that mask wearing is no longer compulsory in indoor spaces (apart from a few exceptions) in Spain. After almost 2 years of very strict mask wearing rules and regulations throughout Spain, this is a very big step towards normality and life as we knew it before the Covid pandemic.
Exceptions to this rule are hospitals, health centres and public transport where it will still be the law to wear a mask.
Other companies will decide for themselves whether or not mask wearing rules should be enforced.
The President of the Canary Islands, Angel Torres has celebrated this news but also stresses that mandatory hygiene and the use of disinfectant gels continues to be important in keeping the economy open and moving toward normality.
