Surveillance of birds on the islands cultural centres is an operation you would not think was necersary but its is actually an important part of keeping these centers open. A new contract has been agreed for this year to control birds in Cuevas de los Vedres, jameos del Agua and the Cactus garden. The name is to keep pidgeons, turtle Doves and other birds from these sites and to stop any damage they can cause. They will work with birds of prey to keep birds away and in addition use sound and visual repellents. They will also remove nests. The work will be carried out when the centrers are closed and there are no visitors. The cost of the surveillance and regulation of the number of birds in the three enclosures willcost just over 11,400 euros but is hoped to save unecersary damage
