A new shopping centre called Open Mall will open in the autumn of 2022. Its located in Arrecife where the old canning factory Garavilla used to be. The shopping centre is designed and inspired by the Canary Islands and is being built as an open urban centre. It will have three commercial floors and a parking. In addition, it will be open 365 days a year. The license for the future shopping centre was granted in 2019 but last May the terms were modified, to 70 commercial premises, 10 warehouses, 3 kiosks and 1,000 underground parking spaces. Open Mall Lanzarote has an investment of 21 million euros not counting the adaptation of the commercial premises, according to the City Council when it gave the green light to the license. The building is designed by the architects Chesa and Mena and the marketing of the project is carried out by Archigestion. The commercial area will be just over 32,000 m2.
