A group of Lanzarote residents are arranging an online musical event to raise money for SARA animal shelter. The event will take place on Saturday the 15th May from 12.00 and is called “Songs for Sara”.
The animal shelter SARA have suffered during the pandemic and have been unable to hold their usual fund raising events. Not only that but there as been less volunteers, closed shops and bars with collection boxes and the lack of tourists that make donations have all affected the funds that SARA normally rely greatly on the help and feed the homeless dogs and cats in Lanzarote. To give people an idea and the work that sara does they have released the following figures. In 2020 there were 589 rescued animals in the shelter. They sterilized 1025 cats and dogs and 577 street cats. They attended to a total of 1189 animals.
The online event will last for 8 hours and there will be around 3 or 4 artists performing every hour. Donations of 5€ or more will enter into a prize draw for many prizes that local businesses are donating.
