For the first time in the history of tourism in Lanzarote the holiday resorts have closed. Due to the state of alarm declared by the Spanish government, locals are conditioned to a restriction of movement and social distancing. This means that all restaurants, bars and hotels have had to close.  Thousands have holidaymakers have had to return home and Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Puerto Calero and Playa Blanca are now closed. It’s a strange sight with nobody on the streets especially as Lanzarote is an all year destination. The airport and ports are closed and no one really knows how long this will last. These are strange times and nobody knows the effect this will have on tourism in the future. During this time it’s important to stay positive and look forward to the time when our resorts will be bustling with tourists again
