Its a custom now that every summer the president of Spain visits to spend some time on the island in the holiday residence of La Mareta in Costa Teguise, otherwise known as the Kings house. He arrived on Saturday with is wife. and will spend several weeks on the island. These summer holidays come after the appearance of the Spanish president in the Congress of Deputies and after the last Council of Ministers. In recent years, Pedro Sánchez has chosen Lanzarote to enjoy his summer holidays. Usually, he visits the Haría Artisan Market.Just a few weeks ago, Patrimonio Nacional awarded, by urgent procedure, a new contract for the security of the official residence of La Mareta in Costa Teguise for the next twelve months. The contract to guard the residence where the President of the Government of Spain traditionally spends part of his holidays has been awarded to the Madrid-based company Clece Seguridad S.A. for a value of 266,094.13 euros. The budget for the remainder of 2026 amounts to 77,276.65 euros and 188,817.48 euros in 2027.
