A presentation by Lanzarote council outlined the new plans for Cesar Manrique Airport. The state is investing 327.4 million and 144million of that will be invested in the expansion. With the success of the island action needs to be taken to expand and optimise the facilities. They aim to provide the expansion of counters and check-in areas, security and passport controls, to waiting areas for boarding and number of gates (generating two boarding areas, one for Schengen traffic and another for non-Schengen), expansion of the hall and baggage claim belts and the improvement of passenger services.The expansion will be bulit on the old coach park and will join the old airport terminal which is now used for inter island flights
