The National Pak of Timanfaya is considered to be one of the main attractions in Lanzarote. Unfortunately the park has lost visitors this year compared to the previous but it has maintained its place of being the fourth most visited attraction in Spain. It is also the second most visited in the Canary Islands behind the National Park of Teide in Tenerife. The breakdown of visitors to the parks is as follows
Timanfaya over one million
Teide over 5.2 million
Sierra de Guadarrama over 2.4 million
Picos de Europa over 1.6 million
Garajonay over 1.3 million
This is partly due to the geographical and climatic location of the Canary Islands means that visitors are spread throughout the year, with peaks in summer, but with a constant flow of visitors in spring and autumn. Timanfaya provides 9.3% of the total visits to the national park network
