As part of World Tourism Day, the Lanzarote Island Council, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, held the presentation ceremony for the 2025 Lanzarote Island and Distinguished Tourism Awards on Monday, September 29th. The ceremony took place at the Las Cucharas Beach breakwater (Costa Teguise) at 8:00 p.m. The President of the Lanzarote Island Council, Oswaldo Betancort García, presided over the event alongside local authorities, representatives of the tourism sector, and figures recognized for their involvement in the development of tourism on the island. The 2025 World Tourism Day awards recognized Aer Lingus with the 2025 Lanzarote Island Award, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to positioning the destination in the Irish market. In the 2025 Tourism Awards category, recognition went to Ereza Hotels & Resorts for the business sector, the Montaña Blanca Vertical for the cultural and sporting event, and Naji Zegdaoui Bardoukh for the outstanding personality. In addition, special mentions were given to the Janubio Salt Flats for their heritage and landscape value, and to Pedro Orlando (Ico) Montelongo Pérez for his career in tourism promotion.
