The wind sculpture in Montaña Blanca, designed by Cesar Manrique and one of many on the island of significant importance is having its turn for restoration work. The work is sponsored by the City Council’s Department of Public Works and underway to be back in place by July. The sculpture was removed from its usual location in mid-July. This was done because it was found to have suffered from wear and tear being exposed to the elements of the weather. The work being carried out includes the structural restoration , cleaning its elements, replacing damaged parts, and improving its rotating system to ensure its mobility and safety. The work is being carried out by specialized personnel, respecting the technical and aesthetic criteria required for a work of this nature. With this project, the Council maintains its commitment to improving and restoring the series of sculptures designed by Manrique, following the restoration of “Phobos” in Tahíche; the work in Arrieta.
