The important cultural monument by Cesar Manrique of El Campasino is currently being replaced after suffering damage from a storm in April 2024. The damage was so severe that 75% of the original needs to be subsituted by new parts. The works are being carried out by a company called Paviquimia who are working closeley with the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote. The monument has been in place for more than 50 years and is a tribute to the Peasant of the countryside and also fertility. This structure was reinforced in the 90s with fiberglass and resin on the outside but the storm has exposed the sculpture as being in worse condition than expected. To replicate three quarters of Manrique’s work, with the exception of the base, which being made of solid concrete was not damaged, the CACT team of welders and the concessionaire company have done a joint job. The welders made the mold structure in four parts in an industrial warehouse that is in Playa Honda, while the company Paviquimia, as they received the pieces filled with fibre glass .In the end it has been finished with a white paint just like it was before. It has remained exactly the same, a totally exact replica.
