Christmas preperations seem to be getting earlier and earlier on the island. Many years ago Christmas seemed to arrive late but not anymore. decorations are appearing in the comercial centers and lights and trees are being put up on the streets. The traditional nativity scene in Yaiza is also under preperation. This year they will boast the island’s largest open-air nativity scene; with a surface area of 400 square meters, making it larger than in previous years. The installation is already underway, sponsored by the municipality it will feature replicas of unique spaces and buildings from the island’s geography, mainly in the south. It will also have plenty of water.Its inauguration is planned for late November or early December, coinciding with the official switching on of the festive lights on the southern coast. It will remain open until well into January. As in previous Christmas seasons, coins thrown by visitors to the display will be donated to organizations that carry out work.
