The salt flats of Las Salinas de Junubio can be seen on the road that runs down to Playa Blanca. This is the only salt mine which has been cultivating sea salt in the Canary Islands for more than 127 years. It has been passed down through the generations and it is now possible to visit on foot, to find out more about the hydraulic layout, its mills for extracting water, its architecture and its landscape and environmental values. The tour lasts 90-minutes and is guided giving an insight in the process of making sea salt from the cookers to the extraction in an artisanal and manual way, as it was made in the past.
