The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Municipality of Yaiza have agreed on the need to undertake urgent improvements in the popular tourist areas of Los Hervideros and also on the access road to the beaches of Papagayo. The Minister of Environment and the mayor have met to evaluate work that needs to be undertaken to both sites last Friday along with the councilor for Environment of Yaiza.

Priority will be the improvement of signs and of the stone paths in Los Hervideros to increase the safety of visitors and also the reinforcement of the cleaning services all to be in place before the notorious increase in tourist excursions that visit Los Clicos , El Golfo and other attractions in the area.

In relation to the access to the beaches of Papagayo and taking into consideration that this area is nationaly protected the council have commited to low impact work.

Projects like this one have already been executed to improve the access in other protected areas of Spain with excellent results. The mayor of Yaiza, meanwhile, argues that it is essential to act in the road to Papagayo with an effective project, respectful with the natural environment and that does not demand excessive maintenance costs.
