The Goverment sector of Public Works and Transport in the Canary Islands had originaly anounce that work would be started in September on the port of Playa Blanca.
Much needed as the port has developed and is quite busy with the ferries leaving and arriving to Fuerteventura everyday.
The area has fallen behind with the recent developements of Marina Rubicon, Puerto Calero, Arrecife marina and the port of Puerto del Carmen which was redeveloped
just a few years ago.
Unfortunately the work has already been paralyzed as councilors are waiting for a report from the Department of Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands
after detecting the presence of a protected algae. Its come as quite a surprise as the mayor of Yaiza and parliament of The New Canarias were not aware of any problems
given that an environmental assessment of the area was carried out.
