The certificate endorses the technical conditions and the aptitude of the infrastructure and its personnel to manage air transport operations, in accordance with the technical and operational standards included in the EU regulation 139/2014 «.

This guarantees that the facilities, systems, equipment, services and procedures comply with European safety criteria. The document issued by the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) takes Lanzarote airport one step further in operational safety, complying with the new international technical standards and certifying in accordance with the new European regulations

Lanzarote joins the airports of Gran Canaria, Tenerife South, Tenerife North and El Hierro, which have all recently converted to European regulations after having been certified in accordance with Spanish regulations. La Palma will obtain the certification throughout this same year, and Fuerteventura, certified by Spanish regulations, will make the conversion to this new European regulation also this year. As for La Gomera, it maintains the certification in accordance with the previous regulations, since this regulation is not currently applicable at this airport.
