One of the first villages to be established on Lanzarote was San Bartolome de Ajey. Housed in an old eighteen century winery is a MET museum dedicated to the heritage of the island. Before the islands developement and introduction of moder technology, survival was tough on the island. If you think of the climate and conditions today and how people managed to survive going back over 300 years, its interesting to see how they overcome the problems of a dry windy climate with a volcanic terrain. The museum will give you a first hand knowledge of the folklore, customs and how people had to fight to survive in these times
