A trip to the beach or trip around the shops is normally followed (in my case) by a nice cold beer or coffee. I like to choose a traditional Spanish cafe or tapas bar mainly because of the pinchos. By this time I am a bit peckish but not ready for a full meal, so a pincho is the perfect alternative. Pinchos are traditionally a small piece of bread with a filling and pierced with a cocktail stick hence the name pincho which means in Spanish ‘to pierce’ In Northern Spain it is custom if you order a beer in a bar that they give you a pincho free. All of the bars take part so you can spend an evening without having to pay for food! Here in Lanzarote its a different story, they have to be ordered but are not expensive.
