Hidden away past the well known attraction of Fire Mountain is a free visitors center open to the public. The idea is to give the public more information about the volcanoes and also the plant and animal life that have taken to live in the area as a result of the eruptions. There are lots of facts and demonstrations including a simulation room to give you an idea of the sounds that would of been heard by the local people at the time. As it is next to the national park there are some special viewpoints looking over the landscape and a comprehensive library.

The museum offers a service of tours on the back of a dromedary, of about 20 minutes, through a path that runs along the Southern side of the mountain of Timanfaya. In addition, there is a photography service. If you wish, a photographer will take a souvenir photo.
