Ironman Lanzarote is one of the most iconic and long-standing races in Europe, drawing triathletes from around the globe. This event showcases Lanzarote’s remarkable landscapes and it will take place this year on the 23rd May in Puerto del Carmen.
The swim is a 3.8 km (2.4 mile) challenge set in the crystal-clear waters of Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen. This sandy beach, known for its calm waters, provides the perfect setting for the swim segment. The swim is a 2 laps course and starts and ends on the beach, allowing athletes to enter and exit the water easily as they begin the race.
The 180.2 km (112-mile) one-loop bike course is legendary, with breathtaking views, picturesque villages, and landmarks like Timanfaya National Park, La Geria, and Mirador del Río. Starting and ending in Puerto del Carmen, the course frequently features tough winds, adding to its reputation.
The three-loop, 42.2 km (26.2 miles) run course offers stunning views, intense sunshine, and an enthusiastic crowd. Athletes run along Avenida de Las Playas, next to the coast, enjoying the scenery and sea breeze as they head toward the finish line.
