There are a lot of firebugs around at the moment so here is some information about the red and black little insect.
The firebug (Pyrrhocoris Apterus) is a common insect and is easily recognisable due to it’s striking black and red colours. They mate in April and May and their diet consists primarily of seeds. They are often found in groups and near the base of trees and plants.
They are not poisonous and they do not bite and they have many uses for nature.
