The salt for the Corpus Christi carpets will be brought from Andalusia. The arrangements made by the Council at the beginning of the year have resulted in the purchase of just over €23,200 for the salt needed for the Corpus Christi carpets for this year. The material will be transported to Lanzarote by the Andalusian-Cadiz company Atlantic Logistic & Shipping.The disbursement is almost a quarter of the initial budget established by the first Council. A down payment of 82,400 euros was initially planned, in order to secure a minimum of 40 tons of sea salt for coloring. The selected bid was the most affordable, far ahead of the four remaining proposals, three from island companies and one from a company based in Gran Canaria. This year, the production of the Corpus Christi carpets is scheduled for June 21; while in 2026, the production of the unique works on the floor next to several emblematic churches will take place on June 6. In both cases, the first day of the sixth month is the deadline for the material to be in Lanzarote.
