Corpus Christi was celebrated in Arrecife on last Sunday with a traditional procession and a magnificent display of salt carpets in the streets. The carpets were made with a total of 20 tons of salt which were managed with dyes, shovels, ribbons provided by the Department of Culture.Corpus Christi is a festival from the Catholic Church intended to celebrate the Eucharist.The salt carpets were true works of art made by cultural groups working from the early hours of Saturday afternoon to be ready for Sunday morning. This year there was the collaboration of 15 cultural groups, which carried out the making of 23 carpets distributed along the streets adjacent to the church of San Ginés Obispo.
