Today, the 30th May is a national bank holiday all over the Canary Island because it is Dia de Canarias» – the day of all 7 Canary Islands. The day was chosen as the anniversary of the first session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands which was held on 30 May 1983.
Celebrations take palace all over the island and include traditional Canarian food, sport and music and many will dress up in the traditional costumes.
Schools and banks are closed on this day all over the island.
