The Lanzarote Town Council has requested an urgent meeting with the Tías City Council to assess the problem of access to the area known as Las Grietas, on the LZ-31, the road that connects La Candelaria and San Bartolomé. It has been reported that hundreds of visitors are parking their cars in the area on waste ground off of the busy road.The council have said that they are aware that the volume of vehicles that come to this natural attraction poses a danger to road safety, since visitors park on the side of the road and then cross on foot across the road. The meeting aims to cooperate between administrations to find a solution that allowstourists to continue enjoying the natural attraction at Las Grietas which will guarantee the safety of everyone.
