The Mercadona supermarket chain plan to open what will be its fourth store on the island in August in Puerto del Carmen giving tourists an oportunity to benefit from better food prices. The works on the outside of the property are just being finalized. There will be parking situated in the new commercial premises of La Perla, right on the front line of Puerto del Carmen main avenue. Its is hoped that everything will be ready for the first to weeks of August. The new car park will have just under 350 spaces and will be connected to the avenue to allow the easy flow of road traffic. It should also help the parking situation on the strip. At the start of the work, it was hoped that the comercial center would open in 2021, but the pandemic and bureaucratic obstacles forced the City Council to review procedures which ended up negatively affecting the completion
