Today is one of the most anticipated days of the year for Spanish Children. On this day, children will wake up to presents left by the Three Kings and the day is spent playing and having family gatherings.
On the night of the 5th January it is the tradition to leave a shoe of each family member under the tree and the gifts will be left along side them the following morning.
Although there isn’t a set meal eaten today, something that you cannot miss out on is the traditional desert called Roscón. This is a sweet bread desert usually filled with either cream or custard and it’s garnished with dried fruit and nuts. Hidden inside the Roscón is a plastic figure of a King or other figure which if you find it, it’s considered good luck. There is also a small bean which if you find this in your slice, it means it’s your turn to pay for the Roscón.
