Crowds used to flock to the village of Teguise on Sundays before the pandemic to browse around the market, watch the street acts and enjoy the atmosphere. During the restrictions it was sadly missed but last Sunday visitors to the market reached a record for this year with aproximately 4,500 visitors. The town had come alive again for this traditional weekly event with officials following the access control made by the City Council, to control capacity and sanitary measures. The rise in numbers was partly due to a stopover made by the cruise ship ‚Aida Perla‘ in Arrecife. Passengers disembarked to take a look and by souvenirs. It is hoped that the market will continue during the summer months with a further rise in numbers and of course controlled by the new sanitary measures to keep everyone safe.
