Filmoteca Canaria will screen next week in Lanzarote old footage from scenes of the Islands filmed by the American company Fox in 1925. They can be seen on Thursday 2/03/2021, at 8:00 p.m., at Jameos del Agua, and on Friday 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Salinero Theater. Access to the two venues is free although it will be necessary to reserve invitations on line.
The two sessions of ‘La Fox in the Canary Islands. 1925 ‘will begin with a previous presentation by the director of the Filmoteca, María Calimano, the director of the Lanzarote Film Festival, Javier Fuentes, and the historian Mario Ferrer, who will participate and talk about what Lanzarote was like at that time. The images can also be enjoyed with live music prepared specifically for the occasion by the pianist Jonay Armas. The images that Fox filmed in that year were located at the University of South Carolina, in the United States and, after obtaining a copy of eleven rolls of film, Filmoteca Canaria has prepared an orderly projection of the rescued material, which is surprising for its quality.
