The community gardens promoted by the Tías Town Hall have had some reorganisation due to the Pandemic such as holding online meetings or individual visits to the farm. However, the garden continues and the harvest will be donated to the local Social Services. The Department of Citizen Participation directed by Nicolás Saavedra is responsible for this organic farming project, which began last year and which includes giving workshops, which will have to be extended until June due to the limitations caused by the Covid 19 pandemic. Some vegetables grown in the community garden include zucchini, onions, pumpkin, leeks, cabbages, red cabbage, cauliflowers or broccoli. Other species such as easily grown Asian vegetables will soon be introduced.
The Councilor explained in October that the purpose of the community gardens is to help supplement the shopping basket of the more vulnerable people living locally and those in need.
