In the last two years, seven new wineries have been added to exiting bodegas in Lanzarote. The last 2 new additions are Bodega Femés and El Morro. The island is fast growing in the sector of producing wine which has been helped along by the established 21.The wineries Femés (Femés), Miguel Morales Morín (Tinajo), La Mareta (Guatiza), Finca Fajardo (La Vegueta), Valle de Malpaso (Haría), Puro Rofe (Tías) and El Morro (Tinajo). This has helped put  Lanzarote in the top position in major wine competitions both nationally and internationally. The island is best known for the white wines made from the native grape variety, the volcanic malvasia, the wineries of the Island have been adapting to the novelties of the sector and to the taste of consumers and this is one of the reasons that the produce has been recognised by experts. Rosé, reds and sparkling wines are becoming more in demand amongst the public with increasing interest in wine with a designation of origin. Lanzarote is an island marked by the cultivation of the vine with iconic settings which draw visitors who take an interest in the work of winegrowers and winemakers from the north to the south.
